The Excel Dynamic Array XMATCH function performs a lookup and returns the position of the search criteria in vertical or horizontal ranges. It’s much more robust and flexible than the legacy MATCH function. XMATCH supports both exact and approximate matching, reverse searches, and wildcards (* ?) for partial matches.
